Background
This hoover arrived to me in a broken state with the customer stating that the hoover sucks but the brush doesn’t brush.
Inspection & Repair
On first power up, the fault was easily replicated: the hoover did indeed suck. Literally and figuratively.
Further inspection revealed an area of structural damage resulting in the fissuring of the moulded plastic body, as evidenced in the photo below.
Repairs
Removing the rear maintenance plate revealed that the belt drive for the brush was uncoupled from the drive shaft. Thankfully the repair was simple; just re-seating the belt over the shaft.
Et voilà, une brosse qui fonctionne!
Unfortunately, repairing the broken plastic wasn’t as simple. Thankfully the damage didn’t affect the wheel mount, so there is no problem with the wheel function.
Unfortunately, the ‘upright lock’ was broken beyond economical repair. An attempt to economically repair the plastic was made, but the stresses from the the spring (which is evident in the above photo) caused the whole section to come apart again.
Other Items
The filter has also been cleaned. The previous owner of the hoover obviously owned an animal of some sort.
Upon the completion, the hoover was given a quick test in the workshop before being boxed up and sent back.
